A PUB is urging people to back its bid to get to Rio de Janeiro for the World Cup this summer.

The Woodpecker, in Waterlooville, has signed up to a competition where it stands a chance of winning four tickets for customers and general manager Jayne Tilsley to go to the Brazilian city and watch a game. The Woodpecker is one of 1,725 pubs that’s signed up to the initiative, run by McCoy’s. To stand a chance of winning, people have to vote for the pub. It’s in the top five and if it remains there by Friday, judges will visit it along with other finalists, before picking a winner. Vote at riolocal.mccoys.co.uk
