REAL ale fans will be in for a treat at a pub’s summer beer festival.
Fifteen beers and six ciders will run through the taps at The Junction Tavern, in Leesland Road, Gosport, from August 29 to September 1.
The pub normally holds the event over the bank holiday weekend, but decided to push it back this time so it didn’t clash with the Victorious Festival.
As previously reported, this year’s revamped music festival will be held on Southsea Common and the likes of Dizzee Rascal and Sophie Ellis-Bextor will perform.
Deana Geary, landlady of The Junction Tavern, said: ‘So many people will be travelling out there as it’s going to be a massive festival, so I thought I would hold it the weekend after when not a lot is happening in Gosport.
‘At the moment, I am just looking around for real ales and seeing which ones I haven’t put on before.
‘It will be a mix of local and guest beers.
‘We created the summer festival on the back of the success of an Easter one we hold. It was all down to customer demand. I was originally only going to hold one beer festival a year but then the customers told me they wanted one held in the summer too.
‘At the Easter festival there are a lot more darker beers on offer. In August, you get more IPAs and citrus and summer beers. This is something people look forward to every year now.
‘What with the festivals I do and the one Sue Lampon at the Queens Hotel holds in October, local people don’t just have to wait until the big one at Thorngate Halls in February any more for great beer.’
