HUNDREDS of singers have been getting their vocal chords ready for the start of a huge arts festival in Portsmouth.
People of all ages turned out at Portsmouth Cathedral, in Old Portsmouth, on Friday to rehearse for this year’s Portsmouth Festivities.
The group will perform as part of a mass choir when a boat called Collective Spirit arrives at Gunwharf Quays for the opening of the festival on June 23. The 30ft wooden vessel, which has been made out of people’s donations of bits of wood, is touring the south coast during the Olympics. Scores of musicians, writers and drama groups will perform during the festivities, which runs until July 1.
