Glitzy fundraising ball to be held in aid of Oliverin aid of Oliver

Oliver Taplin, 10, from Warsash, has cerebral palsy and epilepsy and his mother, Rachel Taplin, 34, is hoping that people will get involved with a glamorous fundraising ball she has organised.

The night will see a three-course dinner, live music, disco, raffle and even a midnight Easter egg hunt on Friday, April 7 at 7pm at Skylark Golf and Country Club, in Whiteley.

Rachel is keen for as many people as possible to turn out.

She said: ‘The money will help improve Oliver’s quality of life. He went through three major surgeries last year alone.

‘He is just coming out the other side of it and the pain is beginning to ease off.’

All funds raised will go directly to the family, and will be spent on Oliver’s therapy and improvements to his home.

Rachel said: ‘It means we can carry on converting the garden. At the moment, he has not got anything he can play with or enjoy in the garden, this will allow him to get equipment.’

Rachel said that fundraising as well as working as a research worker for a charity and looking after Oliver can be hard work, but it is worth it to aid Oliver’s well-being.

All of the acts performing on the night are doing so free of charge, so that all money can go towards Oliver’s fund. The Skylark Golf and Country Club also offered their venue with no charge.

Rachel is also reaching out to local businesses for support, and hopes that they can help her get the message about.

The event is ideal for groups too, with corporate bookings available for larger numbers of guests.

Rachel is welcoming any donations for the raffle, so there are as many prizes as possible available on the night.
