Motiv8 in Gosport has been given £10,000 by Hampshire County Council, which will be used in its one-to-one sessions.

Its branch in Fareham also received £10,000.

The cash was given from the county council’s Children’s Services Integrated Grant Programme and 24 groups got a share of £470,000.

Kirsty Cremer, Motiv8 services manager for Fareham and Gosport, said: ‘We were really happy when we got the grant.

‘It was great to know that we had been chosen for the money to support our vulnerable young people.

‘We didn’t get any funding last year and we really noticed how much the one-to-one support had suffered.’

Ms Cremer added: ‘The sessions are an important part of what we do so it’s great to get £10,000 towards that for both our Fareham and Gosport services.

‘Although it doesn’t pay for everything, it is a big help, which we appreciate.’

The one-to-one service, based at Motiv8 in Toronto Place, is for young people who require early help or have complex needs.

It is aimed at young people offending or at risk of offending, those living in poverty or suffering with mental, emotional and social disabilities.

Councillor Keith Mans, executive member for children’s services at the county council, said they want to work hard to improve the lives of young people.

‘These organisations play an important role in supporting our commitment to helping to improve the lives of all children and young people,’ he said.

‘In particular, they help those who are vulnerable and in need of help and protection.

‘We want to do the very best we can for those vulnerable young people, to help them to be healthy, stay safe and to achieve beyond their expectations.’
