Gosport family cycle from John O'Groats to Lands End
Four family members are cycling the length of the country to raise money for charity.
Relatives Harry Clewlow, Scott McDonough, Steve Davies and Luke Davies are travelling from John O’Groats to Lands End.
They set off last week and are expected to finish the 800-mile journey this weekend.
The team are raising cash for Kidney Research and Alzheimer’s Society.
They are camping along the way and have support from fellow family member Gary Allen, who is driving.
Luke, 26, from Gosport, says: ‘As a family, we do a lot of cycling but nothing on this scale.
‘Harry and Scott always wanted to do the journey and asked if we wanted to join them and make it a family thing.
‘The most we have ever done is 100 miles so although we are only doing around that distance each day, doing it for eight days will be tough.’
Speaking to The News before the cycle, Luke adds: ‘It is really exciting but we are nervous too.
‘We have to get everything together and make sure we have all our gear and equipment so that is a little stressful too.’
The team is hoping to raise £1,000 for their chosen charities.
They chose Kidney Research as Harry and his dad suffer from kidney problems. The Alzheimer’s Society was picked as Scott’s girlfriend had a grandparent with the illness.
Luke says: ‘The target was set because we didn’t want to make it too high and not achieve it.’
