LUCKY young members of Gosport Football Club received new kit from sailors in Gosport.

Excited members of the youngest team at Gosport FC visited their new 2013 sponsor, HMS Sultan to pick up their new kit.

Serving sailor Lieutenant Dave Elliot is the father of Jacob, six.

He said: ‘Seeing the work that the coaches do with these young players is absolutely fantastic.

‘Getting these lads out on cold Saturday mornings and instilling a sense of great fun and teamwork is just heartwarming.

‘I am so pleased that HMS Sultan and the Royal Navy can support our families and communities in this way.’

Gosport FC is the only Charter 
Standard development club in Gosport.

The club, which started in 2004, has 18 teams in total, ranging from development squads to a five-a-side team.

Commodore Mark Slawson ADC Royal Navy, Commanding Officer at HMS Sultan, gave the kit to the team’s coach Rob Watson.

Cmdre Slawson said: ‘HMS Sultan is very proud to support the local community in any way it can, especially when it involves the development of young people through sport.

‘I am very happy that HMS Sultan acts as sponsor for these young players.’

HMS Sultan raises money through annual fundraising to support local causes and charities.
