THE acts for this year’s popular Gosport Waterfront Festival have been announced.

Girlschool will headline on the Friday night, with Doctor and the Medics on the Saturday, 80s soul singer Junior on the Sunday and the Glam City Rockers on the Monday.

Councillor Dave Smith, organiser, said: ‘It’s a community event. Over that weekend there will be many celebrations. It’s a fantastic event for the family. This year we are expecting 35,000 people over the four days.

‘We always end up reaching capacity. It grows every year.’

This year the festival has been moved to take place over the weekend of the Queen’s diamond jubilee.

People will again be charged £1 entry to the festival.

It is being funded by sponsorship from local businesses including the Gosport Ferry and GS Building Services.

The festival will start on Friday, June 1, and will run through until Monday, June 4.

Cllr Smith is still looking for sponsors to support the festival.

And he is looking for 60s and 70s tribute bands to play on the Monday.
