FIREFIGHTERS have warned about the dangers of holding bonfires near buildings.

Crews were called out at 7.20pm last night following concerns from a neighbour about the amount of smoke from a fire that had been started off Avenue Road, Gosport.

Watch manager Steve Brint said the people holding the bonfire were advised they should have held it at least 6ft away from neighbouring buildings, and well away from any trees or bushes. Meanwhile, Gosport firefighters also put out a fire on a fence panel in Horton Road earlier in the evening.
