A FUNDING scheme to improve green spaces has been welcomed by MP Caroline Dinenage.

The Gosport politician is encouraging constituents to apply for Tesco’s Bags of Help funding.

As a result of the 5p bag charge, the supermarket giant now has grants available for projects to improve green spaces.

As previously reported in The News, The Haven Nursery in Gosport was given £12,000 to build an outdoor classroom thanks to the scheme.

Ms Dinenage said: ‘It is fantastic to see that the 5p bag charge is already helping our community.

‘The last round of funding led to grants being awarded to two applicants in our constituency, including CESSAC House for its garden.

‘This funding is a great opportunity for many community groups.’
