Gosport named as hotspot for marriages ending in divorce
GOSPORT has one of the highest rates of divorce in the country, according to a new study.
Figures say 11.48 per cent of couples in the town have had their marriages annulled. It puts Gosport seventh highest in a UK list put together by family law firm Cordell & Cordell, with Blackpool and Hastings coming joint-top with 13.13 per cent. All of the top 10 were places along the coastline. Harrow had the lowest divorce rates with 5.41 per cent. The data showed 42 per cent of marriages end in divorce, but the number of people getting married has increased by 5.3 per cent in the past four years.
