A NEW noticeboard keeping people up-to-date with events and news has been welcomed by residents.

People living in Lee-on-the-Solent are grateful to Gosport Borough Council for paying for the new board on the high street.

The old board had not been maintained by the council since last year due to cuts in its budget.

But chairman of the community board Cllr Graham Burgess said the council would provide a new one if Lee Residents Association managed it.

It will have posters on non-profit organisations serving in the community.
