KINDHEARTED Nicola Farnden has raised more than £4,000 for charity and is about to embark on her biggest challenge yet — trekking the Grand Canyon.

Nicola, 27, from Portchester, was inspired to take part in Capital FM’s Big Grand Canyon Trek after hearing the money raised goes to the Help a Capital Child appeal, which supports Teenage Cancer Trust units.

Nicola, a social worker, sets off on Saturday and will be trekking for five days.

In preparation for the event she held a charity evening at O Sole Mio restaurant at Port Solent, where more than 80 people turned up to support her.

Nicola said: ‘It was a really good night and everyone enjoyed themselves. All in all I’ve raised more than £4,000 now. I’m nervous but I can’t wait.’
