FIRE engines were called out to the same street twice in one evening to tackle grass fires.

A crew from Fareham fire station went to Cunningham Drive, Locks Heath, at about 6.15pm yesterday.

Buckets were used to put out the blaze, which had taken hold of some vegetation.

Shortly before 8pm a fire engine returned to the area to put out another grass fire.

The fire was put out within five minutes.

The cause of the blazes is being investigated.
