A NEW easier-to-access household waste recycling centre has been hailed a huge success.

The centre moved a few hundred yards behind the old one in Harts Farm Way, Havant, last month.

Councillor Sean Woodward, who is in charge of the environment at Hampshire County Council, said: ‘It’s going extremely well. It’s been a great success.

‘I went to visit it just before it opened and I was extremely impressed.

‘It has the capacity to take an awful lot of vehicles coming in with rubbish.

‘The recycling rates are about 80 per cent. The vast majority of what goes in is actually recycled. That which is not is incinerated for energy rather than ending up in landfill.’
