Patients at The Rowans Hospice day centre were treated to an afternoon of Christmas entertainment.
Four members of the Groundlings Theatre’s cast from Jack and the Beanstalk performed an excerpt from their pantomime, sang songs and chatted with the patients to create some festive cheer in the day care centre.
Tracy Jeffery, day care manager, said: ‘Thank you to Groundlings for taking time out of their busy schedule to come and entertain and meet the patients in day care, it was much appreciated by all.’
Amanda Mahoney, from The Rowans Hospice, said: ‘Entertainment is key to providing a relaxing and therapeutic environment in day care and is part of the holistic care offered to people affected by life-limiting illnesses.
‘The patients always enjoy these visits from the cast of the local pantomime; it’s great fun and an opportunity to get in the Christmas spirit!
‘In the run-up to Christmas we also have a couple of school choirs coming in to day care at The Rowans Hospice to entertain the patients, which is always a lovely treat.’
The Groundlings cast finished with a couple of Christmas carols and a rousing rendition of We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
n The hospice is holding a Light Up a Life service at Canoe Lake on Friday, December 18 between 5pm and 7pm, when people can light a candle and make a dedication in memory of loved ones.
