Rachael Ross, founder of the association, said: ‘We are thrilled to have received this funding as part of CALA’s community bursary and the money will go a long way towards supporting the work we do.

‘All children with Down Syndrome experience problems with communication and speech clarity, which can be extremely isolating and frustrating for them. The communication groups are a vital part of what we do and are run by two of the leading Down Syndrome qualified speech therapy experts in the UK.’

The group runs monthly communication sessions, as well as a range of other support services. For details, see portsmouthdsa.org
