The Royal Antediluvian Order of the Buffalo, known as the Buffs, held many events to help raise money for charity last year, such as a garden party in the summer and a Christmas raffle.

Each year they elect a different person as head, who picks a charity to raise money for. Last year it was Simon Ward, from Portsmouth, who picked the Solent MS Therapy Centre in Portsmouth.

Mr Ward’s wife has the disease, so the charity is close to his heart and he knows the good work the charity does to improve the quality of life of people affected by multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions.

Mr Ward presented a cheque of £4,850 to centre manager Mike Gumbrell at the RAOB Club, in New Road.

Irvine Forbes, Knight Order of Merit, was also at the cheque presentation with other association members Paul Gaines and Peter Burgess.

Mr Forbes said: ‘I felt amazing, £4,850 goes a long way.’
