Nigel Hosier, operations manager at Fort Nelson in Fareham, said: ‘This new type of show for Fort Nelson promises to be a lively affair.

‘Artillery on parade with its special re-enactments and gun firings will provide the history of the big guns in a fun and lively way for everyone who attends.’

As well as the live firings there will be talks, films and object-handling sessions plus displays of military vehicles.

There will also be stalls, activities for children and the opportunity to have a go at loading and firing a Victorian field gun.

Tickets can be pre-booked from the Fort Nelson Visitor Centre for the event on July 30 and July 31.

Activities are on between 11am and 3pm.
