People looking to keep fit this summer are being invited to the newly refurbished fitness room at Westgate Leisure Bourne, near Chichester.

The centre has installed 39 new pieces of equipment, which can be adapted to suit people’s individual needs.

As part of the new refit, the gym has introduced a Technogym key.

The key holds a client’s personal information, and once inserted into a piece of equipment it will automatically set it to meet their requirements as well as track their progress.

Since the update many doctors’ surgeries in the Chichester District has recommended the gym to its patients.

Graham Scillitoe, 70, started using Westgate Leisure Bourne following a doctor’s referral.

He said: ‘I had a couple of knee operations and I also have Parkinson’s Disease and I just needed to have some real exercise.

‘I saw the doctor and he said I should try the Bourne as part of the GP referral scheme.

‘I’ve done about 11 sessions and I am sure it’s doing me the world of good.’

Chichester District Council cabinet member for commercial services, Councillor Gillian Keegan said: ‘Regardless of your goal the staff at Westgate will help you achieve it, and you can enjoy your workout even more thanks to the fitness room’s complete makeover.’
