A NEW mobile library service will launch in the county next month.

Hampshire County Council starts the revised service from Monday, July 4.

The four mobile library buses have been restocked with new books, and will be making 365 stops each month, including a Saturday service. They will also be stopping for longer periods of time in busier locations. But some locations have had visits cut.

Councillor Keith Chapman, Hampshire County Council’s executive member for culture and recreation, said: ‘The new service is a result of two extensive public consultations and will save more than £500,000 a year. But the reshuffle was not only about saving money, it was about making the service fit for the 21st century.’
