Hampshire travel agent goes out of business

Investigation launched as RFA ship begins listing in Portsmouth Harbour

An independent travel agency has gone bust.

Davis World Travel was put into liquidation yesterday, with 20 staff losing their jobs.

The firm started in 1957, had four offices in the area - in Fareham, Gosport Lee-on-the-Solent and Portchester.

Administrator Antony Fanshawe said staff had been due to recieve a paycheque before Christmas, but will now get no cash until after December 25.

He said the number of holidaymakers affected was likely to be in the '10s, rather than the 100s or 1,000s', and added that the company had been in financial difficulties for some time.
