Duty manager Fiona Fitt said: ‘We had a good number through the doors and all the families were getting involved with the activities.

‘They seemed to be enjoying it and were interested.

‘It all helps get the awareness out there and raise the money but we’re still quite a few thousand short.’

Money raised on the day will go towards the £6.5m appeal to restore the Second World War-era HMS Alliance.
