Hard work of Portsmouth carers celebrated in awareness week

THE hard work of carers will be celebrated in Carers' Week.

The annual campaign highlights the challenges that carers face and recognises the contribution they make to families and communities.

The Carers Centre, in Southsea, is getting involved by pledging its support to help build carer-friendly communities and will be holding information events. They are at:

n Cosham Market on June 6 between 9am and 3pm.

n 1000 Lakeside, North Harbour, on June 7 between 10am and 2.30pm.

n Palmerston Road on June 7 between 11am and 2pm.

n Sainsbury’s Commercial Road June 8 between 10am and 2pm.

n Tesco Fratton on June 9 between 4.30pm and 7.30pm.

n Commercial Road June 10 between 9am and 3pm.

Councillor Luke Stubbs, Portsmouth City Council’s cabinet member for adult social care, said: ‘This Carers’ Week we are highlighting the vital role that carers fulfil and pledging to building carer-friendly communities to support them.’
