HUNDREDS of birds of all shapes, sizes and colours were on display at an annual society show.

The event marked the biggest day in the Havant Cage Bird Society’s calendar and saw around 700 birds put on show at the Bedhampton Social Hall yesterday.

Club secretary Terry Sayers, from Cosham, said: ‘There were around 700 birds. We had every type of canary, budgies and beautiful foreign birds that have never been seen in a show before. We had Siberian thrushes, chestnut-backed thrushes and even a South African sunbird. It was fantastic.’

Mr Sayers is also part of the Solent Cage Bird Society, which is holding its show on Saturday at 2pm at Portchester Parish Hall.
