SOAP suds and sponges will be the order of the day as firefighters roll up their sleeves to wash cars.

The crew from Havant Fire Station will be at Wickes car park in Havant from 10am to 4pm on Saturday to raise funds for The Fire Fighters Charity.

Motorists are invited to take their cars along and have them washed in return for a donation to the charity.

Andy Bowers, area manager of Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: ‘We are delighted that so many of our fire stations are getting involved this September and would encourage people to come along and support the day.

‘Your valued donations will go towards helping men, women and children from the fire and rescue service community during their times of need.’

Firefighters will also be giving out safety tips.
