LOW-COST insulation which may lower energy bills is being offered to Hampshire homeowners.

Insulate Hampshire is coming to Havant and the first 5,000 householders to sign up will be able to purchase cavity wall insulation from £75.

Loft insulation is available from £99 where there is currently none or less than 6cm.

DIY rolls of top-up insulation will be available under the scheme for £49.

The scheme can also help to direct people to community services such as home and fire safety, benefit entitlement checks and can offer advice around installing solar panels.

Councillor Tony Briggs, leader of Havant Borough Council, said the scheme will make homes more energy efficient and warmer.

He added: ‘The council has been working hard to raise awareness of ways to reduce your energy consumption which will also save you money.

‘In the past few months we’ve helped to organise the first Havant Goes Greener week and reduced our own energy consumption in our four main buildings by 22 per cent in the last year.’

Representatives from the scheme will make door-to-door calls but only after a letter has been sent to the house. They will always carry identification and wear distinctive orange uniforms.
