KEEPING warm and reducing energy bills is the focus of a council scheme.

Hampshire County Council is offering free loft insulation rolls to residents across the Havant, Gosport and Fareham areas.

Anyone that has less than 170mm of loft insulation can apply for up to 100 square metres of free insulation under the Insulate Hampshire Community DIY scheme.

This can be collected from an event at Barncroft Primary School in Park Lane, Bedhampton, on August 14.

The scheme is funded by ScottishPower and supported by local councils.

Leader of the county council Ken Thornber said: ‘I’d encourage all residents to take advantage of the free offer while they can.

‘Although there may be additional costs for special circumstances, Insulate Hampshire will never charge anyone an upfront cost for applying.

‘The technical survey supplied by Insulate Hampshire is completely free.’
