A NEW clubhouse and football pitches are among the proposed improvements for a recreation ground.
Residents can have their say on the planned renovations to the Cams Alders Recreation Ground at Fareham.
It is hoped the improvements will benefit the clubs based at the ground including Fareham Town Football Club, Fareham Heathens Rugby Club, The Rainbow Centre and Palmerston Indoors Bowls Club.
The plans include a full-sized 3G all-weather football and rugby pitch with a stand, as well as a smaller 3G football pitch.
Fareham Town Football Club chairman Nick Ralls said he thought the proposals would improve the area and benefit the public.
Mr Ralls said: ‘I am delighted this exciting scheme, for all members of the community, which will enhance their experience in terms of sport and recreation at Cams Alder is now under consideration.’
Also being considered is a new clubhouse and community facility, better car parking arrangements, landscaping improvements as well as an inclusive children’s play area.
The clubhouse plans include a multi-purpose community space and meeting rooms, changing rooms for players and officials and a seating area and stand for 500.
Fareham Borough Council executive member for leisure and community, Councillor Sue Bell, said: ‘We are committed to creating a public space which everyone in the community can enjoy.
‘I urge residents and recreational ground users to get involved and have their say on our plans for making Cams Alders even better.’
Currently the entrance to the site is via Palmerston Business Park, but the council is proposing to reopen an entrance at Highfield Avenue.
The council said this would eliminate the need for the road that runs through the ground which many consider to be an eyesore.
