Hazel's long locks to be cut to raise cash for charity

LONG locks will be shaved off for charity this weekend.

Hazel Farndell will have her hair shaved off at Cosham Community Centre to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The cuttings will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides wigs for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment.

Hazel said: ‘My niece died a few years ago at 18 and my god-daughter died a couple of years ago. Having these personal losses I wanted to give something back. The people who worked with them were wonderful at the time.

People recognise me for my long blonde hair. I’ve been growing it so they can use it at the Little Princess Trust.’

Having raised nearly £400 so far, Hazel, 60, from Cosham, is hoping to collect more at the event itself this Saturday, from 2pm.

Friend Vera Theseira, 83, said: ‘She is so brave for doing this. The whole community is behind her.’
