ARTHRITIS sufferers stepped out for a seafront walk as part of a new exercise programme.
The 10-week pilot programme being run at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, aims to give people with rheumatoid arthritis the chance to try out a range of exercise and fitness sessions – including walks, circuit training, pilates and yoga.
Colin Beevor, matron and service manager of musculoskeletal outpatient department services at QA, is leading the pilot scheme which is the first of its kind in the UK. He said: ‘Everyone really enjoyed the walk. All the exercise sessions are going really well. They’re showing patients the other kinds of things they can do which can help their condition.’
