A PLAY is being staged which tells the true story of how drug addiction destroyed a family.

It is based on an acclaimed book of the same name, Mum can you loan me twenty quid? by Elizabeth Burton-Phillips.

It will be performed on Tuesday, May 6, at 2pm and 7pm, at the Square Tower, Broad Street, in Old Portsmouth, and again on Wednesday, May 7, at 1pm at the Menuhin Theatre,
Central Library, Guildhall Square.

The free play is supported by Portsmouth City Council, Hampshire Constabulary’s Operation Fortress and the Rebound Carers Group – a local drug and alcohol addiction service specifically for carers, that works with the council.
