MEDICS met at Queen Alexandra Hospital to take a look at how to use inhalers correctly.

The Cosham hospital worked with the Wessex Asthma Network, and doctors, nurses, pharmacists and physiotherapists were among those who attended the drop-in session.

Adel Sheikh, respiratory directorate pharmacist at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs QA, said: ‘When people think of spending in the NHS they often think of things like cancer drugs.

‘But the sheer volume of inhalers that are needed makes them one of our biggest expenditures.

‘It’s very important we, as medical professionals, are able to use them correctly so we can teach our patients the best possible technique and avoid waste.’
