THE Care Quality Commission has rated a care provider in Lee-on-the-Solent as outstanding in its latest inspection.

The Care Management Group Ltd in Kings Road has been praised for showing innovative and imaginative use of the facilities when providing high standards of care for its residents.

The facility, which houses up to six residents at a time, all of whom have some form of learning disability, is one of the first care service providers to receive an outstanding rating.

The inspectors who carried out the inspection saw that residents’ care was personalised and reflected their wishes.

Their report said that all on site were very attentive and knowledgeable to the needs of the people who they were taking care of. One point the inspectors did raise as exceptional was the involvement of the people who live at the home, saying their views are just as valid as the staff.

The residents are asked to help decide how the home should be decorated and furnished, they choose what meals they want to have, and they have an input on hiring staff, so they can decide who is administering the care they need.

Deputy chief inspector Adrian Hughes said: ‘The management and staff are committed to providing outstanding care to the people living at the home.

‘People were supported and encouraged to have a choice and control in a range of aspects of their lives.

‘The team working there should be extremely proud.’
