PRIVATE provider Care UK has been given the contract to carry on running a Portsmouth walk-in centre.

The Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group awarded a five-year contract so the firm can continue at St Mary’s Treatment Centre, in Milton Road.

Care UK has run the centre for 10 years since it opened, which provides a range of procedures including surgery for hand and foot problems, cataracts and hernia operations.

Hospital director Penny Daniels said: ‘I’d like to thank our NHS commissioners for choosing us as their preferred partners to run the centre for another five years.

‘I have a great team working for me here in Portsmouth.

‘And together we are all proud of our track record in delivering highly regarded, much needed NHS services here.’
