THE chairman of a Portsmouth group to help those with lung problems is due to meet the health secretary.

Eric Compton, who heads the Breathe Easy group, will be meeting MP Jeremy Hunt on Wednesday.

Mr Compton said: ‘Through the British Lung Foundation, Mr Hunt has requested to speak to a handful of support group chairmans.

‘I have been asked to attend, and will do so next Wednesday.’

The meeting takes place in Richmond House, London, and Mr Compton hopes to use it as a chance to address the different levels of pulmonary rehabilitation available in the country.

Mr Compton added: ‘It’s like a postcode lottery, depending on where you live, you may get more or less access to a service.

‘This needs to be looked at.’

The Portsmouth Breathe Easy group meets on the last Monday of each month in Buckland.
