PORTSMOUTH residents have begun moving into a new state-of-the-art care facility.

Victory Unit, in Northern Parade, Hilsea, is run by the city council and has been built as part of a extra care housing development project in partnership with Housing & Care 21.

It provides 20 beds and replaces rooms previously located in Longdean Lodge, in Paulsgrove. Over 30 current staff are moving with the unit. The service supports people leaving hospital who need more time for assessment of their ability to live independently.
