PEOPLE in the Waterlooville area are being urged to give blood to ensure stocks stay healthy as winter approaches.

NHS Blood and Transplant are asking people to give blood at Waterlooville Community Centre, next to Asda, off Maurepas Way.

It comes as regular donors are more likely to stay at home during the winter.

The whole process takes around an hour – with the actual donation taking less than 10 minutes – and can save the lives of up to three people.

John Canning, lead donor relations manager for NHS Blood and Transplant, said: ‘At this time of year blood stocks tend to dip because people are unable to give blood, so it’s important that people come forward to donate if they can do.’

The sessions take place from 11am to 1.30pm and 3pm to 5.30pm on Tuesday.

Anyone aged between 17 and 65, weighing more than 50 kg and in general good health could potentially start saving lives by becoming a blood donor.
