A FREE course will help people who have lost their sight regain confidence and independence.

The Living with Sight Loss course, run by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), is being held in Portsmouth and will provide information, advice and skills.

Held over two events, topics will cover getting around outside, welfare rights and using assistive technology.

Brian Anderson, from RNIB, said: '˜For someone newly diagnosed with sight loss, the future can seem daunting. But losing your sight doesn't mean losing your independence.'

The course is taking place at the Deaf Centre, on Arundel Street, between 10am and 3.30pm on Thursday and again on September 20. Booking must be made in advance: Call 0300 123 3933.
