A DAD whose premature twins were cared for by a hospital unit raised a knockout sum of more than £3,000 as a way of saying thank you.

Antony Davies, of Southampton Road, Port Solent, organised an evening of boxing to raise money for the neonatal intensive care unit (Nicu).

Antony’s partner Kelly Aitken was rushed to theatre for an emergency Caesarean after suffering a massive bleed.

She gave birth to twins Jensen and Rosie 11 weeks early, weighing about 2lbs each.

To say thank you to the ward in Queen Alexandra Hospital, Antony organised a charity boxing match against champion Tony Oakey.

Antony said: ‘It was the most incredible evening, I will never forget it. Walking out was such a great feeling and the atmosphere was fantastic.

‘We’ve raised more than £3,000 and the final figure may well be higher than that.’

‘Kelly and I are really grateful to Nicu, and to everyone who helped with the boxing match and supported us.’
