THEIR hard work to increase check-up attendances for young people with diabetes has been recognised nationally.

Consultant Partha Kar, diabetes nurse specialist Anita Thynne and diabetes dietician Jeanette Head, were shortlisted for Clinical Leadership Team of the Year, for the British Medical Journal Awards.

They were nominated for the ‘Diabetes care with Safe Transition to Young Adult Life programme – which works to increase attendance rates for under 25s who are living with diabetes.

Mr Kar said: ‘It has been nothing short of amazing for the transitional diabetes team to be recognised among the top five in the country.

‘This is recognition of the work done by the team and testament to the change.’
