A DOCTOR is encouraging people to take up walking as a good form of exercise.

Dr David Chilvers, of the Waterside Medical Centre, in Mumby Road, Gosport, has praised the Fareham Walking 4 Health and Solent Health Walks initiative.

Dr Chilvers, chairman of the Fareham and Gosport Clinical Commissioning Group, said: ‘If you can manage it, you can’t beat a good walk.

‘You can go at a pace you can manage, but it helps to keep your weight under control and keep your heart and bones strong.’
