ATTENDEES at an event were encouraged to discuss mental health issues to help break down barriers surrounding the topic.
Solent NHS Trust’s Adult Mental Health Community Development Workers team organised the myth-busting session at the Oasis Centre at Queen Alexandra Hospital to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week.
The trust, which provides community and specialist mental health services in Portsmouth, Southampton and other parts of Hampshire, used the event to highlight mental healthiness as well as spirituality and mental health care.
Lola Adegboye, a community development worker for the trust, said: ‘We created an environment where it was okay for people to talk about their mental health. It was exciting to see barriers being broken down.’
The occasion also featured presentations along with information stalls, as well as a speed networking session in which people interacted with several different organisations.
