PEOPLE are being encouraged to get fit as celebrations take place at Fareham Leisure Centre to mark the arrival of the Olympic torch.

The centre is hosting an open day of activities and crafts that will culminate in guests being invited to follow the torch through the town centre.

The open day runs from 9am until 4pm. Adults can take part in fitness taster sessions, take the rowing challenge and scale the climbing wall.

Youngsters have the chance to meet Peppa Pig and George, drive Kiddi Karts, have their faces painted and try their hand at arts and crafts, including the chance to make their own torch.

Older children can have a go at sumo suit wrestling, try accompanied taster sessions in the gym and tackle the 7m-high Spider Mountain tower and drop slide.

Everyone can swim for free from 2pm until 3pm. Call 01329 233652 for more.
