FREE blood pressure checks are being given in Portsmouth as part of a national drive.

The Blood Pressure Association has been offering the free service as part of its Know Your Numbers! week.

Paul Newman, chief executive of the Blood Pressure Association, said: ‘High blood pressure is a dangerous condition when not managed, and we hope everyone will take advantage of the free blood pressure checks to lower their risk of stroke and heart attack.

‘Everyone who gets checked helps to emphasise the importance of knowing your blood pressure numbers, offering free checks could really be saving lives.’

Sessions are taking place in the Asda pharmacy, at The Bridge Shopping Centre, Fratton tomorrow, 7am to 11pm, Saturday, September 17, 7am to 10pm, Sunday, September 18, 10am to 4pm.

They are also being held in Copnor Pharmacy, Copnor Road, Copnor, tomorrow, 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm and Saturday, September 17, 9am to 1pm.
