County council Meals on Wheels offered to young adults for first time

AS THE Easter bank holiday weekend approaches, people are being reminded to donate blood.

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) says it typically sees a drop in donors around the holiday period.

More than 7,000 units of blood are needed by hospitals each day in order to help with live-changing and saving transfusions.

NHSBT spokesman John Canning said: ‘Without the regular commitment of blood donors many lives would be lost and we are very grateful to our loyal donors who save lives every time they donate.’

The next sessions in the Portsmouth area take place at the following times and places:

n Easter Monday, Portsmouth Football Club, Fratton Way, from 10am to 12.25pm and 1.45pm to 4.15pm.

n Tuesday, April 10, Community College, Wych Lane, Bridgemary, Gosport, from 1.30pm to 3.25pm and 4.40pm to 7.30pm.

n Friday, April 13, All Saints Church, Hambledon Road, Denmead, from 1.30pm to 3.25pm and 4.30pm to 7.30pm.
