People across Hampshire – in particular those living in Havant – are being encouraged to fill out an online survey, that has been extended so more people can have their say.
Hampshire County Council has joined forces with the county Fire and Rescue Service, the NHS and Havant, Gosport and Eastleigh borough councils to encourage people to protect their families from the dangers of second-hand smoke and reduce the risk of fire by not smoking indoors.
Station manager David Hodge of Havant fire station, said: ‘We’re delighted to be supporting our partners with this initiative.
‘Smoker’s materials, such as cigarettes and matches, cause the largest proportion of fire deaths in the home.
‘If you do choose to smoke, stub cigarettes out properly, dispose of them carefully and always ensure that you keep matches and lighters out of children’s reach.’
