PEOPLE needing medical help can now turn to a pharmacy to ensure they get top advice.

Boots, in High Street, Gosport, has become the first Healthy Living Pharmacy in the town under a government scheme.

Staff at the shop underwent training for around a year.

Jan Woods, who has worked at the store for three years, said: ‘We went through some training about how to read people to see if they need advice.

‘You get a bit more to be able to support the customer better.

‘Quite often people see us and talk. When they see that we’re now a Healthy Living Pharmacy they have more confidence.’

The scheme was first developed in Portsmouth before it was rolled out across the country.

Staff help people with issues ranging from sexual health, alcohol abuse and obesity.

The scheme sees staff take a more pro-active approach in recommending services.
