THE trust in charge of paying for health services in the Havant area will adopt the same changes to IVF criteria as the rest of south Hampshire.
The South Eastern Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has agreed that eligible couples will now get to have two rounds of fertility treatment – at an average cost of around £3,000 per time – rather than one.
The decision was approved at the CCG’s board meeting on Wednesday, and follows what the Portsmouth CCG and Fareham and Gosport CCG approved.
And doctors in the Havant area have also decided they will take charge of funding primary care.
It will also set up a committee that will be made up of lay people and will meet in public to discuss how the £40m budget should be spent.
At the moment, funding is distributed by NHS England, but that is due to change with the CCGs taking over.
They will also be responsible for other duties such as incentive schemes and establishing new practices.
