GP practice rated Good again after inspection

A GP practice group has retained its rating of good following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The health watchdog visited the Hanway Group Practice, in Portsmouth, and praised its work with patients.

The group, which provides services in Buckland and on Stubbington Avenue, in North End, was rated Good for being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

The inspector did notice one aspect of outstanding care.

The report said: ‘The practice offered patients who lived in an assisted housing complex an open access system.

‘These patients were issued with a card that they could present to reception staff and see a GP at that time, without a pre-booked appointment.’

GP practices also have other areas of care rated and Hanway was Good for its care of older people; people with long-term conditions, families, children and young people and people experiencing poor mental health.
